Gaming Tiems
After a long discussion and hemming and hawwing, my husband and I decided to get a Wii with our tax return. So far we Indiana Jones 2 and Mario Kart. If anyone has suggestions for games, I'm all ears. And if someone has a Wii and wants our friend code, just let me know. :)

Lifewise, I'm just busy with grad school and attempting to write my C/A fic for the Valentine's Day Smut-A-Thon. I have a pretty good idea and outline, I just need to sit down and write it.

Miss you guys. I can't wait for summer when I can actually be around and do fandom stuff.

Thanks! I will look into that one. :)

Miss you too! I've been bogged down with school as well, so I haven't even been able to check tumblr to see if you're still around there! With a new job on the horizon, my time will be even more constrained, but it's good to check in every now and again, isn't it?

NEW JOB! That is great news! But yeah, the time issue. :)

I'm always on Tumblr. It's just faster. I can post something or reblog in a few minutes, when I'm taking a study break.

I feel you with the grad school busyness and the lack of time for fanficcing. It's awful when you simply don't have a spare moment to write anything down and you've got all these ideas swirling around your head and taunting you. Assignments be damned, there are fic-a-thon prompts to fill!
Kelly: ATS: Team Angelxlivvielockex on February 5th, 2011 08:48 pm (UTC)
Lucky for me this weekend seems to be pretty assignment free so I can really just dive into my fic. If not, my next week is pretty tame too.

I'm going to Utah in April for a conference. 10 hr car ride, plenty of time to write. LOL

I've got the games things (like tennis, bowling and the one with Skil Ball and shuffle board) which are fun and get your heart pumping. I've got the roller coaster game which I'm not fond of and the newest Harvet Moon for Nintindo which I don't like. I prefer the old school version. So, I'd be interested in the recommendations you get.

We bought Mario Kart so that we could play with one of our family friends and we spent most of the morning playing that. It's your typical Mario Kart.

Husbear bought Lego Indiana Jones 2 and some flying game. We always have fun with the Lego games. We had them all for our PS2.

Also got the Sports and Resort games.

Did you see they have a Kirby game where Kirby is yarn? I really want to get that one when it drops in price.

For the most part, we play a lot of RPGs and team games. Husbear loves his racing games and I love kid's games (cause I'm not really good).

If I find anything really good, I will be sure to tell you. If you like Star Wars, they have a Lego Star Wars that we had for PS2 that we just loved. It's actually easier to play it one player than the two player mode. LOL

I used to play Mario Kart with friends a lot and loved it. But I've got no one to play with now, so I'm not sure it would be so fun as a one player thing.

I'm not wild about RPGs because I don't have the patience for all the dialogue and repeating all that dialogue when you have to go back and do it again.

I've always been a first-person shooter kinda game lover (like Duke Nukem) or the kiddie, used-to-be scrolling screen-type games. I just checked out the Kirby Yarn one on YT. It could be a possibility. And I saw "Charge" which is a cow racing game that looks fun. :) I never thought about checking them out on YT first, but now I will!
Kellyxlivvielockex on February 5th, 2011 09:06 pm (UTC)
We got it since you can play it online, which is awesome for us. I'm always up for playing with you, if you still have it. I can email you our friend code.

I need that cow racing game for the husbear. He will love it!

I don't know about friends codes. Does the Wii have to be hooked up to the netz 'cause mine isnt.
Kellyxlivvielockex on February 5th, 2011 09:44 pm (UTC)
Yeah, you have to have it hooked up to a Wifi to be able to play with people online.

I guess the cow game is on Wii Play. There are a ton on Ebay for like a dollar. Gonna get my cow racing ON. :)

I love Just Dance and Just Dance 2...cause I get to exercise and play a game! Burning carbs without going to the gym FOR THE WIN!!!!
Deb: Cordy Twirldamnskippytoo on February 5th, 2011 09:06 pm (UTC)
I forgot about Just Dance! My nieces and nephews play that all the time. And I definitely need the carb burning help. :)

Those are totally on my list! I'm getting Wii Cheer first cause well, former Cheerleader. That was pretty much what sold me on Wii (Along with the Project Runway and Epic Mickey, games).

I really want the Glee karaoke too.

Aww man I forgot about the Glee one. I want it so bad! *I currently mooch off my cousins Wii until I can afford my own...though I kind of want an XBox just so I can get he Kinect. those things are so much fun*
Kellyxlivvielockex on February 6th, 2011 09:58 pm (UTC)
We did a lot of research before we decided on the Wii cause we have an Xbox and a PS2 right now. We didn't choose the Kinect because everything we read was that Microsoft rolled it out too soon, that it wasn't totally tested, and it didn't work as well as the other platforms. Not sure what your experience with it has been but I couldn't find one good review sadly. :(

Ahhhh. See I got to be part of a survey test of the product before they released it for retail. So I got to try out their dance game and one with some rafts. I really liked it because I'm MASSIVELY unhand-eye coordinated, so to be able to just move to play the game was great for me because I was finally good at video games. It probably didn't hurt that it was really hot outside at the Amusement park we were at and the trailers they were doing the testing in had A/C.

I thoroughly enjoy Animal Crossing: City Folk and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Animal Crossing is hopelessly addicting, though. -_-
Kellyxlivvielockex on February 6th, 2011 09:59 pm (UTC)
I was thinking about Super Smash Bros because it is an online game you can play with friends. There was an Animal Crossing game that I saw for the PS2 and it looked interesting. I might have to check out City Folk then. :)

Get Wii Sports/Fit or whatever, it legit does help you work out, from the comfort of your home and in a fun way! (My muscles were sore afterwards when playing on my friends'!)

And what are you in grad school for again? I'm starting this summer, which is a bummer in that I'm not used to summer=school...:/
Kellyxlivvielockex on February 6th, 2011 10:00 pm (UTC)
The Fit is so on my list. That was another big factor in picking the Wii because I had heard so many good things about the Fit. My gym membership went up AGAIN and that was the last straw for me. I'd rather just do workouts at home.

I'm getting a Masters in Applied Communication. My emphasis is probably going to be Health Comm. So that is a fancy way of saying I will be making Public Service Announcements for television. LOL

If you like dancing, there's actually a very good game for that: Let's Dance 2(do not get the first one). It's got a lot of varied dance routines/songs, and even two player songs. I've had a lot of fun with this one, and it can give you a nice little workout too.

Just bought Super Mario Galaxy 2 before leaving home, but I don't have enough experience to give a rapport on that yet. Bond 007 Golden Eye is also supposed to be very good, and I believe it's got a two player mode.

I actually have no clue what this friend code business is lol.

Oh oh, and if you register with Nintendo Club and input the code of your system and any nintendo games you buy, you can score some nifty free points to buy stuff with. I have several extra dance numbers cause of that ;)
Kellyxlivvielockex on February 6th, 2011 10:02 pm (UTC)
The first thing I did was register with Nintendo Club. LOL I have to wait for my husband to very his email address though. (Men, I swear).

I love love to dance so I think I'm going to get Just Dance 2 (on your rec and another rec). Especially if I can use points to get extra dance numbers.

If your Wii is connected wirelessly, you can swap friend codes (under message board, address book) with friends and then you can all play some online games like Mario Kart.
M: Cordelia girl powerspankulert on February 7th, 2011 04:08 pm (UTC)
Just Dance 2 comes with 40+ tracks, so you won't be in dire need to buy any new ones straight off. Some of the dance routines are fairly complicated, and are just as much fun the fifth time around. I haven't even tried out all of them yet :p I really wanted a dancing game, so I did tons of review hunting and it's the top dog out there. The cheerleading one tempted me, but alas I haven't found many nice things said about it.

Oh, didn't know Mario Kart was an online game. We can swap codes if you'd like, and you can kick my butt.

And I second the rec for wii fit. It's got some nice exercises, though it tries my patience a bit due to my preference for anything where I get to bounce around or pretend to punch and kick things ;)

I can get back to you on My Fitness Coach: Dance Workout once I've given it a go.

I <3 Wii! Have fun!

Super Smash Brothers Brawl and New Super Mario Brothers. They're both super fun. I am terrible at video games but I am somehow better at Smash Brothers than Joe. Go figure.
