Content: Happy resolution
Summary: Written for a Letter Challenge in which Angel wrote a love letter to an unknown person. The challenge was who he wrote it to.
Disclaimer: The characters in the Angelverse were created by Joss Whedon & David Greenwalt. No infringement is intended, no profit is made.
Distribution: Open to the public.
Notes: Post-NFA. Something to make you go “awwww”
Feedback: Always! Encourages me to write more.
Dedication: To Mike, my harasser, the only guy online to make me smile. Because if he hadn’t told me to put up and shut up, this wouldn’t be posted. (I didn’t want to compete against him!)

Cordelia woke up slowly. Last night was crazy to say the least and she couldn’t believe she had slept in this late. Nor that she didn’t make it until midnight. She turned over, reaching for Angel, only to find an empty space where he had been. Instead, her hand moving up, her fingers touched the letter. She smiled. Another love letter from him. She had a drawer full of these when he got into one of his sentimental moods. He was like a woman sometimes. Every 28 days almost and there would be a letter waiting for her. Sometimes on her pillow, sometimes in her dresser drawer, sometimes taped to the bathroom mirror. It was always a surprise where he would hide them.

She could always tell when he was writing one though. The Ultimate Manilow would be on the stereo, bottle of whiskey would be open, he wouldn’t let her come inside their bedroom. He was such a dork sometimes, it was unbelievable he ever got laid. She often imagined the “Dark Avenger” in a mortal life, hunched over a table in his parent’s basement, playing Dungeons and Dragons with his equally nerdy friends. But those kind of thoughts were merely for her own amusement. Then again, she did let him know what a dork he was on a daily basis. Thinking back to Harris though, she did have a soft spot for the geeks.

She took the letter off the pillow and sat up, pulling the blanket up to cover her still naked body. Who would have dreamed this? Over a year ago, none of this seemed possible. She was still in a coma. Angel was working for Evil Inc. But you fight in one major Apocalypse and win...She chuckled softly to herself. Seems The Powers were feeling especially giving on that day. A bit of soul permanence, a bit of bringing people back from the dead. Then again, nobody around them seemed to stay dead. Then again, what good is a group of good-doers when all of them were laying six feet under? At least the Powers were smart enough to realize that Apocalypse or not, the fight is never really over. And that a happy Champion who got a bit of a reward for loyal service is better than a brooding one.

She ran her finger under the edge of the envelope to open it. She pulled the letter out to read it. The same sentiments as always but said in a different way. She wondered how one manpire could carry so much guilt and self-doubt on his shoulders. At times, it was near crippling. Hopefully, with this letter, he could finally allow himself some release to enjoy his newfound allowed happiness. She did smile though at his words, reading the letter not once but twice before she pulled open the drawer on the bedside table to put it with the ever growing stack of the others. Piles of neat handwriting and words he could never express verbally. It didn’t matter to her. Because she loved Angel as Angel. The dork, the vampire, the Champion, the artist. All of it.

She heard the bedroom door open and she gave a smile when she saw him standing there holding a pink box. “Hey Shakespeare,” She said with a tease to her voice, “You better have gotten jelly donuts this time.”

LOL Did you sit down and read all my standalones today or something? You nut but I love you.

Again, like with "Memos" this was for that god-awful Letter Challenge at a board that shall not be named. I feel lucky that I was at least able to pull this out.

But I am glad it made you go all awww! It was almost a little too sugary sweet for me.

Wait until you read the standalone I was working on after church. (Yes, church makes me have naughty thoughts) Won't be sugary at all.

Why does it not surprise me in the least that church makes you have naughty thoughts? LOL. No, I didn't read all your standalones, just a couple, though I'm sure I'll eventually get them all read because so far, they've all been really good.
