Title: Broke
Author: xlivvielockex
Rating: PG
Character: Tara
Word Count: 100

She was a horse. Not like the wild mustangs that ran free but rather like one that was broken, spirit crushed thanks to a handler who favored cruelty above respect. Someone had taken the whip to her one too many times, pulled on the reins, let the bit cut into her mouth. Someone had left her starved and shivering in the stable until she couldn’t stand, until that wildness in her was gone. She was broke.

But somehow, over time, that spirit returned. That gleam in her eye that spoke of joy and wildness, of freedom. Brought back by magic.

Title: Four Songs Lorne Never Sang
Author: xlivvielockex
Rating: PG
Character: Lorne
Word Count: 400 (4 100 word drabbles)

Krevlornswath of the Deathwok Clan discovered it by accident. To make something magical, he banged two clay pots together, hit a metal utensil, made a vibration with his throat,. Today he had discovered that if he added words it became even more beautiful. The words were simple “oohs”, “ahhs”, and “doos” peppered in between the vibrations made by his throat.

“Krevlornswath! What is that hideous noise?!”

He stopped immediately as he heard the bellow of his mother. He was caught with his hand in the revanor jar.

“Get out here, it is time to clean the Froshnacks from my beard!”
-----------------------------------

He stumbled onto the streets of Los Angeles, having enough sense to know that this was not Pylea.

He stopped in his tracks when heard something wonderful. He moved, blindly, letting the sound call to him like a siren. Instead of crashing against waves, he crashed against the window of a rent to own shop. He stared, fixated by the flickering, glowing images of cows caught in the box. He listened to this sound, unsure of what to call it. It wasn’t speech. It was so much more. He picked up the words quickly, repeating softly.

“Aaaah, Macarena! A-Hai!”
-----------------------------------

He spent most of his time in L.A. listening to people sing instead of singing. Why he couldn’t see her destiny, see what had in store for her, he didn’t know. Secretly, he blamed The Powers. They let her get the visions and didn’t bother to give her one to warn her about this.

He sang out softly, careful not to interrupt the grief of those surrounding the grave. Her friends. Her family. Her loved ones.

“I've been treated so wrong. I've been treated so long.”

This wouldn’t happen again. Next time, he would get this destiny thing right.
----------------------------------

The gun was dropped, still smoking. He had done his part and he was out forever. There was no bright future ahead of him, only coming darkness. His feet took him to the car but his mind wasn’t there. His mind was off wandering, walking a thousand different possibilities. His body that got into that car, started it up, and started to drive out of L.A. His body was driving him east. His fingers reached over, turning on the radio to cut through the heavy silence inside the car. His lips and voice sang along.

“Somewhere...over the rainbow...”

Title: He Watched Her
Author: xlivvielockex
Rating: PG
Character: Darla
Word Count: 100
A/N: Big thanks to diseased_inside for the research help on Colonial clothing

He watched her, dressed in black to show off her wealth, as she strolled her male companion down the street. She made no effort to hide who or what she was.

He watched her dressed in green show off her piety. The Puritans of the colony knew she was far from pious and whispered words of “that woman” at Sunday Church. Church, he noted, she never attended. She never asked forgiveness for her sins, though they were numerous.

In time, with his help, her mortal sins would pale in comparison to the acts he had planned for his dear one.

Title: Kitty Genovese
Author: xlivvielockex
Rating: PG
Character: Darla
Word Count: 100

She liked to watch him as he toyed with his victims. He was like a large puppy with a toy. He would toss them around, shake them in his jaws, and chase them like rabbits in the meadow. It contented her to see him so happy, her darling boy. She would find him little playthings. He would destroy them in less than an hour. Broken toys. Then she would charge herself to finding another gift, another toy. She watched him murder them, the blood on his hands but not his alone.

Her greatest sin was to do nothing at all.

Title: Sheep Go To Heaven
Author: xlivvielockex
Rating: PG
Character: Darla
Word Count: 100

Hell wasn’t that bad, she thought. It was no different than all those years with her dear boy, Angelus. She saw the same unspeakable horrors; inflicted some, had some inflicted upon her. The fires reminded her of the sun, its warmth on her face, something she had forgotten many years ago. She couldn’t even remember her mortal name, she shouldn’t be expected to remember how the sun felt.

This is what she deserved, this was her place, a minion to a master once more. Her one redeeming act was not enough to make up for centuries of cruelty and hate.

Title: Winning Hand
Author: xlivvielockex
Rating: PG
Character: Buffy
Word Count: 100
A/N: This is a companion piece to my Clem piece Fours and Whores Are Wild and was written with Foamy in mind.

“Bugles?” Clem offered to a pouting Buffy.

“I cannot believe Spike did this. Who does he think he is? I am the Slayer! I should have staked him years ago.”

“Beer?” Clem handed her a can.

“I don’t have to put up with this. There are plenty of...there are a lot of...there are men out there that know how to respect a woman, think they are worth more than some kittens!”

“Remote?” He interrupted.

Buffy was about to start again when she saw the remote, held out to her, giving her full power of the television. She smiled.

Title: Few Things Better in Life
Author: xlivvielockex
Rating: G
Character: Andrew
Word Count: 100

Andrew was hunched over, deep in concentration. He had a look on his face as if he were constipated or trying very hard not to pass gas in front of the Queen.

“I will show you. You can’t do that to me. Have you no idea who I am?” He moved deftly. A few more moments and it would all be over. He held his breath in anticipation.

Three, two, one. He jumped up, throwing his fist into the air triumphantly! “I told you! That will teach you to try to outbid me on 1977 Yoda in his original packaging!”

Title: Connor Rising
Author: xlivvielockex
Rating: PG-15
Character: Connor
Word Count: 100

He didn’t know.

They come to him at night, haunt his dreams. The memories of his old life. Betrayal. Hatred. Anger. Feelings that are foreign and yet in his blood. They seep out at night, dripping from his pores in the forms of nightmares. He is a Greek Tragedy. Banished to an island of lost dreams, lost no longer.

Father will kill the son. Son will kill the father. Metaphors. Surrealism. Post-Modern Nihilism. It seems real.

The son will marry his mother. His eyes torn out, now he can see. He sees in the night terrors.

Now he knows.

For a bonus, I wrote a Connor piece last November for this comm: Nature vs. Nurture

Title: Two Halves, Same Whole
Author: xlivvielockex
Rating: G
Character: Justine
Word Count: 100

They could feel when the other was gone, whether it was ten feet or ten thousand.

They had a language that sounded like gibberish that only they spoke.

One would think of a number and the other would guess it right 99.99 percent of the time.

They used to share clothes and do each other’s nails.

If one had a craving, the other was there with the chocolate ready.

When one was hurt, they both felt the pain.

And when they fought, the world shook.

That was the magic of twins.

And when Julia died, Justine died with her.

They didn’t know how he liked his tea. Or what albums he kept stashed in his office. Or that his nickname was Ripper. He never had dalliances with any of their mothers, or even met them for that matter. Never broke bread in their houses.

He was no longer a Watcher, not in the way he had come to define it. He was a babysitter.

Title: Startled Into Unlife (No Fire)
Author: xlivvielockex
Rating: PG
Character: Spike
Word Count: 100
Timeline: Early 1970s

The room reeked with the heavy scent of vanilla and cigarette smoke. The wine was breathing but the delicate smell was overpowered by the thickness of the bidis. It was a dive but it was just the place that poets came to be inspired. Verses scribbled on napkins, smeared by split drinks and hopeless dreams.

“ ‘M tellin’ you, nobody is going to bloody understand it. Who wants to read a poem about a sodden cat with push button eyes? All the man that he is cat, what’s this rubbish?”

“William, you know booze and women, but you don’t know poetry.”
